This company (which I just found out the name of through xxxxxxx) won't stop calling me. They call every day (even on Sundays), several times a day from 7am until late at night. They keep asking for a person whom I have never even heard of. I have told them they have the wrong number over and over again. Now they either hang up as soon as I answer or they sing in the phone when I tell them they have the wrong number and to take me off of their list. Today, when they called, I tried to find out the name of the company but they hung up when I asked. The call went like this: Them: Hello, is Meghan there? Me: May I ask who is calling? Them: Are you Meghan? Me: Who is this? Them: Are you Meghan? Me: You called my house, who is this? Them: I need to talk to Meghan. Me: What Company is this? Them: Nevermind... They then hung up. I have told them almost every day for over 6 months that they have the wrong number. I have tried letting it go to voice mail but they never leave a message. Thanks to this website, I now have a way to contact them and write a cease and desist letter. Beware of this Company! I have been hung up on, sung too, and yelled at by the representatives on the phone. All because I have told them to remove me from their list and that there is no Meghan here and never has been. Go to your local Marine Supply store and pick up one of the Fog Horns in a can. Then, when they call again, press the button on the horn and blow their eardrums out. This is TOTALLY wrong. They should not be calling you at all, if you told them you are not the party they are looking for. I got over 4 harassing phonecalls, and I found out that the Minnesota Attorney General's Office had filed a lawsuit against them. I filed a complaint with them, as well as the Federal Trade Commission. I would suggest going to both of these sites, and filing complaints. It sounds like they haven't heard you say "NO". Tina, How long have you had that phone#? It is very likely that the person they are calling for at one time had the phone# you have now. Keep in mind that a phone# is not tied to an address, but to a customer. Allied Interstate is a very scummy collection agency. What they are doing is very illegal. Go to www budhibbs com and read all about them they are one of the worst in the nation. Then go to www FTC gov and file your complaint online. A tip..file a separate complaint for each violation as this is how the FTC determines who to go after next, number of complaints. They do not provide enforcement on an individual basis. Also file a police report with the local authorites in the town they operate out of. Tell them you feel threatened by the phone calls. I like Dave's method with the fog horn, I personally like the police whistle. Also, make six copies of your cease communications letter and tape them end to end fed thru your fax machine and let it run all night long until the fax at thier end runs out of paper and toner. Be sure to first sign up for unlimited long distance unless you are lucky enough to find an 800# fax#!...:-) Steve - Bradenton, Florida U.S.A. |

Thank you Steve. In answer to your question, I have had this phone number for over 2 years. If it was a new number, I would have thought that as well. No, this company is just the absolute worst. Funny thing is, right after posting this report, they called again. I told them about this website. I also, word for word, told them about what and where I was going to report them to. That lady on the phone was actually the ONLY nice person I have ever spoken with there. She was dancing all over her words and apologizing. She actually wrote the website (ripoffreports.com) address down. Since her phone call, I have not gotten one more call from them. I almost can't believe it. Allied Interstate goes after SOL time barred debts as a regular day to day business practice! It is nothing for these lowlife to go after a 10-15-20 year old debt. It is likely that this person they are looking for had your phone# 3-5 years ago or more.. OR...This person at one time lived at your address, and these morons are using a reverse address directory and coming up with your phone#! This is how they work. They are total lowlife scumbags. youR number must have been an old number of the person they are looking for .when they call just ask the to remove it or ask to speak to a supervisor . most of the outgoing calls that are made by allied are from an automatic dialer. once they number is removed from from the dailer i could take upto 24 hours to be removed from their computer Chip - Wpb, Florida U.S.A. |

This is just in response to what you said Chip. I have told them the wrong number, every day, for over 6 months now. Granted there were a couple of weeks here and there that I let it go to my answering machine and of course no message was left but that was only a couple of times. This last phone call (which has been the last finally) was the only time I have gotten a decent response. And the only reason I had gotten a decent one was because I told her that I was going to report them to FDCPA and that I sent a Cease Communications letter. Oh and I told her about this website. I understand what an automatic dialer is, being I used to work in Collections (soft core...nothing like Allied) but the employees at this company are just the bottom of the barrel. You see, most of the time, when I would tell them wrong number, they would yell at me, call me a liar or sing loudly in the phone (yes sing). listen i have plenty of experiance with collection agectcies . and that is what they are and i'll tell you what. if you have been getting any collection letter in the mail . then . yes they do have the wrong number. i'll tell you what you should do. never give them your address record all conversations everytime they call tell them thet this phone call is being recorded. say it even if you don't have a recored ok .. the then after you say that ask then how may you help them . and sit back and see what happen that one will even make you laugh Michael - WYANDANCH, New York U.S.A. |
